MUSIC & WORSHIP
Sundays: 8:45 a.m. in the Worship Center
Director: Melanie Dulaney
If you are an intermediate or experienced player who wants to use the gifts and talents the Lord has blessed you with, the Oakland Heights Orchestra may be for you! The orchestra plays in the Sunday morning church service each week, accompanying the congregational music and occasionally accompanying the adult choir.
We are made up of adults and teenagers with at least a high school level of playing ability. Music for the orchestra is available on Wednesday evenings to be picked up and practiced at home.
We meet at 8:45 on Sunday mornings with the music minister to practice that morning's service. On occasion, we meet for a short time on Wednesday evenings to practice special music that needs more attention.
Even if you have not played in quite awhile, and if you are interested, we'd like to talk with you about serving with us as worship leaders. The orchestra provides the support, the background during worship. It creates the feeling of what the music is all about. It sets the tone and creates all the underpinnings of what the vocalists can do.
You do not have to be an expert musician to join the Oakland Heights Orchestra. We simply need players with at least a high school level of playing ability with a discernment to know whether or not what they're playing sounds good.
