Adult Ministry
Welcome to the adult ministries of Oakland Heights Baptist Church, where our focus is on equipping and maturing individuals as they progress along their journey of discipleship. Matthew 28:19 commands us to go and make disciples. Because of Jesus' two greatest commandments, "...you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and all your soul, and with all your mind..."and "...you shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:37, 39 NKJV), we have defined a disciple as a God loving, people loving, ministry active, reproducing, follower of Jesus Christ.
Our mission is to provide an environment that nurtures discipleship and spiritual growth. A foundational element to spiritual growth is the study of God's Word. We believe that it is important to study the Bible in a systematic manner that ensures that a person is exposed to the entire counsel of God, book by book. Consequently, our adult Sunday Morning Bible Studies follow a curriculum that moves through the entire Bible over an eight year period.
We believe that discipleship is a process involving personal spiritual growth. As a result, Oakland Heights has designed a pathway to maturity to develop the knowledge and skills to become a true disciple.
This is accomplished through discipleship training courses purposefully selected to move individuals through this process. In addition, we offer courses to address the needs of Christians in the daily challenges of life. These courses are offered on Sunday afternoons at 4:30 and Wednesday evening at 6:15.
